Police are continuing their search to locate Stanley Turvey, who is wanted on warrant after several incidents around the Shepparton area yesterday and who is now believed to be travelling in a stolen white Toyota utility following an armed robbery in Yarrawonga this morning.

Police responded to reports that a man armed with a firearm assaulted a woman and stole a vehicle in Witt Street, Yarrawonga just before 10am.

The man fled in the white coloured Toyota Hi-Lux Dual cab utility registration 1RA-8AN.

Police are currently in the area searching for Turvey and the vehicle.

Members of the public are advised not to approach Turvey or the vehicle if he is sighted, but to contact triple zero (000) immediately.

They are also appealing to Turvey to hand himself in at any local police station.

This appeal follows an earlier appeal for assistance to locate Turvey following several incidents where he fired a gunshot, evaded police and was involved in a kidnapping in the Shepparton area on Monday 18 September.

Police were at a property in Katandra West as part of an investigation to arrest Turvey when he approached police armed with a firearm just after midday.

Turvey was challenged by police to drop the weapon when he fired a shot into the air before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

Police commenced a search for Turvey and the vehicle and a short time later, a police unit lost control and rolled on Creighton Road in Katandra West.

Both officers received minor injuries and were taken to hospital for observation and have since been released.

Turvey then stopped at a random residence in Youanmite where he forced a male resident at gunpoint to drive him to Finley in NSW.

It is believed the male was then released in Finley and was not physically injured.

Any other information that may be able to assist police to find Turvey should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppers.com.au
